R&D Annual Report 2018: ESMT Berlin faculty delivers top research

• 26 peer-reviewed journal articles, 12 in A/A+ journals
• Reaccredited by EQUIS and extension of PhD granting right
• Institute for Endowment Management and Entrepreneurial Finance (IFEE) founded

ESMT Berlin has just issued its R&D Annual Report 2018, stressing the high-quality research output of the international business school. Members of the ESMT faculty published 26 peer-reviewed articles, seven of which appeared in the most influential A/A+ journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, and Organization Science. ESMT authors received three publication-related awards.

In September, ESMT was reaccredited by EQUIS for the maximum possible period of five years. In its Peer Review Report, EQUIS stated that “the faculty are of high quality and their research output is impressive.” Following a positive evaluation of the development of the progress of ESMT’s PhD program, in October, the Wissenschaftsrat (Council of Science and Humanities) recommended the extension of the PhD granting right until 2023 when the next regular evaluation is due.

Moreover, ESMT founded the Institute for Endowment Management and Entrepreneurial Finance (IFEE) to build strong competencies in the areas of endowment management and entrepreneurial finance. “A particular goal is the integration of research and practice, reinforced by unique teaching offerings,” says IFEE Director Henry Sauermann, Associate Professor of Strategy at ESMT.

Supporting international academic collaboration and exchange, ESMT held six conferences and 27 research seminars, at which scholars from ESMT and other universities presented their research. In addition, the school hosted eight open lectures with opinion leaders from both academia and industry.
