ESMT Berlin expands historic state council building

ESMT Berlin has remodeled the third floor of the former state council building to accommodate the significant increase in the number of students.

The new library, four seminar rooms, the ESMT research lab, eleven group study rooms, and a student lounge are located in the approximately 1500-square-meter-space. This floor had remained in a preliminary building phase even in GDR times. In addition to the approximately 3,000 executives who take part in ESMT programs every year, some 300 women and men from all over the world are studying in the degree programs of the international business school.

The former library, located on the first floor, will be converted in the spring of 2017 into an auditorium accommodating 90 participants. The neighboring Competence Center will also be transformed into two separate seminar rooms.

ESMT has invested around 3.5 million EUR in the expansion and remodeling, which took a total of 8 months.

“Not only the reputation of ESMT, but also the number of students studying here is growing steadily,” said ESMT CFO Georg Garlichs. “This expansion is another milestone in the history of the business school and gives us the space we urgently need to grow.
