ESMT Berlin continues successful Digital Society Institute
The institute addresses questions of digital sovereignty and cybersecurity and strengthens the discourse between business, politics, and society with its scientific expertise. In the continuation of the institute, ESMT is supported by Allianz, BASF, and EY.
“The work of the Digital Society Institute has proven its worth over the past five years,” said Prof. Jörg Rocholl, president of ESMT. “We appreciate the confidence of the companies that support the institute and thus ESMT.”
Since its founding in 2015, the DSI has left a strong footprint in interdisciplinary questions of the digitization of the economy in more than 100 publications, 59 workshops, and six congresses. Topics included unhackable computer systems (high assurance), secure electronic identities, new methods of network security, cooperation between government and business in the field of cybersecurity, and innovations in technical security testing.
The latest research project of the DSI, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, focuses on the future of IT security law. “Companies have more and more security requirements to consider when it comes to digitization,” said DSI Co-director Martin Schallbruch. “The laws in this field have gotten out of hand. Over the next three years, we will develop an approach to systematize this area and make it easier to understand.”
