Digital Society Institute expands with Michael Hange as new external affiliate

The Digital Society Institute (DSI) at ESMT Berlin welcomes Michael Hange, former president of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), as new external affiliate. Michael Hange will support the DSI in cybersecurity questions, assist with workshops and conferences, and contribute to publication and research of the DSI.

Until his retirement in 2015, Michael Hange was the president of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for six years. Prior to this, he was permanent representative of the IT director in the Federal Ministry of the Interior and vice president of the BSI from 1994 to 2009. Since the founding of the BSI in 1991, he held leading roles in the area of cryptology. Michael Hange has been a member of the supervisory board of Bundesdruckerei since April 2016.

The Digital Society Institute (DSI) was founded at ESMT Berlin to support the economic and social constitution of digitalization through strategic research and development. It is supported by leading global companies. With a focus on cybersecurity and data protection, DSI is creating strategies for politics, business as well as society, and is developing innovative digital technologies for new approaches to the security of digitalization.
