The Berlin School of Economics (BSE), a collaboration of eight Berlin universities and research institutions including ESMT Berlin, has been awarded the title of “Einstein Doctoral Program” and a prize of 300,000 euros by the Einstein Foundation.

The BSE was founded in 2019 and combines the PhD and postdoctoral programs in economics from the partner institutions.

The Einstein Foundation recognizes the BSE’s large scope of research questions and excellent education. The school’s current 65 professors cover a wide range of courses; numerous special professorships also enable young economists to pursue projects in applied and policy-related research. In addition, the BSE regularly organizes master classes and workshops with internationally renowned economists. By bundling the many offers in economics in Berlin, the BSE significantly strengthens the city’s visibility as a science and research hub.

The collaboration includes ESMT Berlin, Humboldt University Berlin, Free University Berlin, Technical University Berlin, the German Institute for Economic Research, Hertie School of Governance, University of Potsdam, and WZB Berlin Social Science Center.
