Annual figures 2018: ESMT Berlin continues successful development

ESMT Berlin continues the positive trend of recent years and reports a net income of 407,000 euros.

ESMT Berlin continues the positive trend of recent years and reports a net income of 407,000 euros. The number of enrolled students grew by seven percent to 470. The demand for executive education offered by the business school remains high with 3,206 executives attending programs. The gross sum of revenues and gains increased to 32.8 million euros, and 2018 is the ninth consecutive year in which ESMT reports a net profit.

Following a positive evaluation of the development of the ESMT PhD program in October of last year, the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat) recommended the continuation of the PhD granting right until 2023 when the next regular evaluation will take place. EQUIS re-accredited ESMT in September for the maximum possible period of five years. The international accrediting body stressed that “the faculty are of high quality and their research output is impressive.” According to the R&D Annual Report 2018, members of the ESMT faculty published 26 peer-reviewed articles, seven of which appeared in the most influential A/A+ journals.

Furthermore, ESMT Berlin joined up with six other leading global business schools in 2018 to transform the future of management education through a new educational technology (EdTech) platform. Through the integration of online and face-to-face modules, it enables students and executives to tailor their programs to their specific needs and facilitates an enhanced learning experience. The shared platform forms the heart of The Future of Management Education (FOME) alliance, the first international collaboration of its kind in business education.

“The positive annual statement confirms that ESMT is headed in the right direction,” said Georg Garlichs, CFO of ESMT. “In 2019 we will continue the integration of digital elements into our degree programs and executive education courses and remain committed to a high level of individualization and custom-made learning experiences.”
