Professionalize your supervisory board work

The work of a Supervisory Board is intensive and complex - often influenced by legislators, shareholders and the public. Wirecard is a prominent negative example.

The German Corporate Governance Code defines training and further education for supervisory board members as establishing the standard of conduct. The demand for professionalization of the supervisory board, especially in banks and among financial experts, is high. This is also increasingly true for family-owned companies and medium-sized businesses.

We at ESMT Berlin are responding to these demands with a special approach to further education: board members and supervisory board members train future supervisory board members. You will prepare for your future supervisory, management, and advisory board tasks by participating in a comprehensive exchange of experiences with actively responsible supervisory board members and other experts from supervisory board practice.

Module 3 – Specific challenges of Supervisory Board mandate

ESMT Supervisory Board Certificate

Upon completion of all modules, you will receive an ESMT Supervisory Board Certificate. The certificate program covers all topics of modern supervisory board work. It consists of three two-day modules each, but they can also be taken individually and in any order.

Upon completion of an individual module, you will receive an ESMT certificate of attendance.

Symposium for supervisory board members

ESMT Berlin is a cooperation partner of the annual symposium for supervisory boards (Fachtagung für Aufsichtsräte). The supervisory board conference is aimed at active supervisory board members, advisory board members or administrative board members from all forms of corporate law. The event was developed by the Handelsblatt publishing group in cooperation with ESMT Berlin.

The next symposium will take place in 2023. As soon as the date and registration modalities are fixed, we will inform you here.

Directors Academy

If you are looking for an online training for the supervisory board, the Directors Academy could be an alternative. The Directors Academy gives prospective supervisory board members the basic essential knowledge they need, and established supervisory board members brush up on their skills. This education and training is available in three versions: For corporations, family-owned capital market-oriented companies, and for financial service providers.
