Analytics Student Consulting Project

Get experience working with a corporate partner as part of a student consulting team and apply your new skills and insights into a real-world business environment.

MAAI Research Track
Research Track

As an alternative to working in teams with a company on an Analytics Consulting Project, you can also work individually on a research project with an ESMT faculty member. This will involve mostly empirical work, often with large data sets and extensive coding, to answer a practical research question.

Practical experiences are central to the program, giving you time to apply new skills in real-world environments and prepare for the job market:

  • Take advantage of internship opportunities in Germany or abroad during the program.
  • Take an academic term abroad (optional) at one of ESMT's top-ranked partners around the world
  • Take language classes in German, French, Spanish or Chinese (optional)  at our partner GLS Sprachenzentrum Berlin (German Language School Berlin).

Finance Certificate

As part of your elective course choice, you can opt to complete five advanced courses in Finance subjects with a focus on global investment strategies. 

 

You will be issued an ESMT Finance Certificate in addition to your master's degree.

Am I a good "fit" for the MAAI?

ESMT's MAAI is a personalized degree for high-potential candidates with little or no previous work experience.

The qualities we are looking for in our applicants are:

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving abilities
  • A critical thinker who holds a scientific worldview
  • Highly attentive to detail
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies
  • A desire for continuous learning opportunities 

What are the MAAI application requirements?

The requirements for applying to ESMT’s MAAI program are:

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent
  • Strong grades in your quantitative courses
  • Proof of English proficiency (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS) or graduating from a university program taught in English
  • Completed application, including essays and one recommendation
  • Having less than 24 months of post-graduate professional experience (not including internship or work experience prior to bachelor program graduation)

Can I apply before receiving my bachelor's degree?

Yes, applications are encouraged from final-year undergraduate students awaiting completion of their degree.

However, a grade overview or transcripts must be included with the application.

What kind of scholarships are available for MAAI applicants?

Scholarships are offered to accepted students with outstanding academic merit and leadership potential. To apply for a scholarship, you should complete the proper essay included in the online application form, and indicate your suitability for a scholarship.

The scholarships offered in ESMT cover partial tuition fees. Most of our students cover the costs of their studies with a mix of scholarships, loans, and personal savings.

Does ESMT offer on campus housing?

ESMT offers student accommodation in 7 shared flats near campus, just a 10-min walk away.

Full-time ESMT students can apply for single or double rooms in the shared flats – each fully furnished and equipped with WIFI. For more information on ESMT student accommodation, click here. As there are limited rooms available, please also consider other housing options.

Language learning with ESMT

ESMT collaborates with the GLS language school that has been offering language courses in Berlin since 1983. Classes take place at the GLS campus in Kastanienallee 82 and run once a week from October to December and January to March.
