Der Aufsichtsrat der ESMT Berlin hat Dr. Matthias Koch zum 1. Mai 2025 als Geschäftsführer sowie Chief Operating Officer (COO) und Chief Financial Officer (CFO) der internationalen Wirtschaftsuniversität berufen. In seiner Funktion als COO/CFO wird er die Finanzstrategie sowie die operativen Bereiche der Hochschule verantworten und eng mit allen Abteilungen zusammenarbeiten, um die institutionelle Entwicklung ganzheitlich zu fördern.
The Supervisory Board of ESMT Berlin has appointed Dr. Matthias Koch as managing director, Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of ESMT, effective May 1, 2025. In his role as COO/CFO, he will be responsible for the business school’s financial strategy and operational functions, working closely with all departments to support the institution’s development.
Michael Posner, human rights lawyer and professor at NYU Stern, presented a crucial challenge during ESMT’s “Conscience Incorporated” event: the governance gap between global business operations and inadequate national regulations. Drawing on his experience as a former US State Department official and as director of the Center for Business and Human Rights at NYU Stern, Posner outlined how companies can address human rights issues in their global operations.
ESMT Berlin has received significant funding from the German Foundation for Monument Protection (DSD) to support the ongoing restoration of the former GDR State Council building, now home to the international business school campus in Berlin. The DSD has provided donations totaling more than €1.8 million for the renovation of the building’s west wing, in keeping with its landmark status. A major portion of this of more than €1 million has been contributed by the Danish Villum Foundation, part of the Velux Foundations.

Die Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz (DSD) hat Spenden in Höhe von insgesamt gut 1,8 Millionen Euro für die denkmalgerechte Sanierung des westlichen Flügels bereitgestellt. Ein wesentlicher Anteil in Höhe von gut einer Million Euro stammt von der dänischen Villum Foundation, Teil der Velux Foundations.
