Jan Sebastian Nimczik
Biography
Jan Nimczik is an associate professor of economics (with tenure). He joined ESMT Berlin in 2019. Previously he worked as a postdoc at the Humboldt University, Berlin. Jan obtained his PhD in Economics at the University of Mannheim. During his studies, he visited the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Wisconsin Madison. He is also affiliated with RFBerlin and the Institute for Employment Research (IAB).
Jan is a labor economist who investigates the structure and functioning of labor markets with big data and empirical methods. He has studied how the mobility of employees within internal labor markets shapes the performance of organizations, how the mobility of workers across firms shapes wages and inequality, and how the mobility of migrants across countries shapes the economic development of entire regions.
