Enrolling in the executive MBA program at ESMT Berlin is an opportunity to supercharge your career trajectory while applying your new skills to your current role and providing tangible benefits for your employer.

Consistently ranking as one of the top programs in the world, ESMTโ€™s Executive MBA program offers excellent value compared to other top-tier EMBA degrees. Students consistently show unparalleled career growth during and after the EMBA program.

The tuition and fees for the executive MBA are: โ‚ฌ 64,800

The program tuition includes teaching fees, required cases and books, e-learning resources, lunch, snacks, and coffee while on campus, as well as a Smart Certificate.

Paying tuition

Tuition for the Executive MBA is due over three calendar years.

  • One third of the tuition fees is due in October 2025, the first month of the program
  • Another third is due February 2026
  • The final installment in January 2027.

Further expenses

In addition to tuition, students are expected to cover travel to and from modules and accommodation during all modules in Berlin and during Global Network weeks.

Any travel costs needed to complete the Practice Project are also the candidateโ€™s responsibility.

We find students require about โ‚ฌ13,000 on average for travel and accommodation fees during the EMBA. Your final total could be slightly higher or lower depending on how far you must travel.

Employer support

There are multiple ways in which your employer can support your studies.

Tuition support

Ask your manager and/or HR department if learning and development budgets could be used to support your studies. Alternatively, some employers are prepared to pay all or part of your tuition as an employee benefit.

Expenses reimbursement

Your employer may be prepared to cover travel and accommodation expenses related to coming to campus and/or study trips.

Salary deductions at source

In this scenario, your employer initially pays your tuition but then deducts it from your gross salary over a certain period (so that you pay them back in full). This may be preferable to asking your employer to directly contribute as you are not locked into employment for a specific period (though you will have to pay the outstanding amount if you leave earlier).

Non-financial support

Your employer can also support your studies in other, non-financial ways such as offering study leave, work schedule changes or flexibility, and/or opportunities to combine study trips with work engagements to reduce your costs.

If the above do not work, you may wish to consider selling your time back to your employer as you approach the end of your program. All ESMT MBA programs conclude with a work-based consulting project so that you help your company answer a pressing strategic question.

Given they would otherwise have to pay an external consultant to answer it, why not you? With your insider insights, you are also likely to create much greater value.

Tax deductions

Many countries allow tuition for higher education, and related costs, to count as tax deductible expenses. You can learn more about the requirements in Germany, for example, here. Please check with your tax advisor to assess your personal situation.

Possible deductions might include:

  • Tuition fees
  • Travel required by the program
  • Temporary housing expenses
  • Cost of prep courses - English, special courses, etc.
