Global exchanges, social impact projects, internships, and more
International Options Header

ESMT has partnered with business schools worldwide to offer you, as a master's student, an enhanced global study experience that fosters the necessary aptitude and knowledge to successfully navigate careers in an international business landscape.

International exchange

After completing the core master's courses at ESMT in the spring of your first year, you may take your elective courses at a partner institution.

Master in Global Management students can choose from all MSc exchange destinations, as well as Charlottesville, USA under the Global Impact Program (GIP).

Depending on the exchange school, you may choose to shorten your internship period or take your specialization courses abroad. No additional tuition fees are required. You will also be able to access additional benefits from your exchange school, such as student activities, career service support and oncampus recruitment events.

Exchange partners and incoming exchange students can find more information about an exchange at ESMT on this dedicated webpage

Hockey game at Smith
At Smith I fully experienced the North American college life. The campus was huge with a lot of facilities and opportunities. Classes focused on group-work and professors were very knowledgeable and passionate.

Discover our newest exchange opportunity, the Global Impact Program

Enhance your MGM experience by joining the Global Impact Program (GIP), an exchange developed in partnership with the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce.

Offered to MGM students in Year 2, this program brings together students from two top business schools—ESMT and UVA—in two economic powerhouses, USA and Germany.

The GIP goes beyond a traditional exchange, offering a curriculum focused in sustainability and social impact, and the opportunity to make meaningful connections on both sides of the Atlantic.

You'll study at UVA in Term 4 and return to Berlin with UVA students in Term 5 to work together on social impact projects that address real-world challenges that global organizations face.

More international options

In addition to an exchange, you can strengthen your international exposure by choosing to take one of the following activities abroad.

You will be able to choose from a diverse offering of academic and practice-oriented options that can strengthen your intercultural skills, expand your professional network, and subject you to nuanced views of the global marketplace.

International MGM stories: the Responsible Leaders Fellowship

Of all my time at ESMT, the RLF is probably where I grew the most, both personally and professionally

At ESMT, however, I think the effort you put into making the experience as full as possible is what you get out of it in the end. This brings me to the RLF. Of all my time at ESMT, the RLF is probably where I grew the most, both personally and professionally. It is as challenging as it is rewarding. I enjoyed my time there so much that I talked to my boss about staying longer and was hired full time.

The opportunity to work abroad and immerse myself in a different culture has been a unique adventure.

Stepping into the American work culture has been a fascinating shift from my experiences in Germany...The opportunity to work abroad and immerse myself in a different culture has been a unique adventure. It perfectly complements the first six months I spent at ESMT, enabling me to collect new impressions, develop a deeper understanding of different cultures, and sharpen my international acumen.
