What to expect from the Executive MBA program

The program: discover the highlights

Your next act of leadership start at ESMT with the Executive MBA

We deliver impact at every level: personal, professional, and organizational; with a program designed to work with and for your career:

  • Eight in-person modules (each a residency that lasts six days)
  • Six on-campus modules in the heart of innovative, transformative Berlin
  • Two international modules in globally significant locations
  • An optimized schedule that allows you to integrate your new knowledge into your career immediately
  • A world-class faculty working individually with you on coaching and leadership development
  • A global network of peers representing diverse industries, regions, and leadership styles

The curriculum: understand your leadership journey

The Executive MBA curriculum is a transformation that unfolds in stages. You will begin by understanding yourself as a leader, and move through targeted phases that prepare you to drive change across your organization and beyond.

  1. Begin with self awareness: uncover the strengths that define your leadership style through coaching, reflection, and leadership diagnostics.
  2. Build the tools for action: explore strategy, finance, innovation, and organizational behavior to understand how to solve your own career challenges.
  3. Lead across boundaries: learn to lead across cultures and industries through international modules and a diverse cohort.
  4. Drive impact and transformation: create measurable change in your community by designing actionable strategies tailored to your company.

The cohort: who we look for

The Executive MBA brings together experienced professionals ready to make a significant impact. We look for leaders who demonstrate curiosity, courage, and a track record of achievement.

Typical candidates have:

  • A solid academic and professional background, including experience managing people, projects, or budgets
  • An international outlook, intercultural competence, and a responsible approach to business
  • A strong performance on the ESMT admissions tests

Above all, though, we admit individuals, not résumés. We are looking for people ready to learn, grow, and lead business as unusual: learn more about the EMBA admissions process

EMBA alumni stories: Challenge with purpose

The professors did challenge us intellectually. And I think that that has to do with the fact that they are focused on us as potential C-suite leaders.

The professors did truly challenge us intellectually. And I think that that has a lot to do with the fact that they are very specifically focused on us as potential C-suite leaders. And that, to me, was very important, because that was the tipping point I was at in my career.

Within my industry, sustainabilty, innovation, ethics, as well as AI, are becoming more and more part of our strategic pillars. It's happening at an incredibly fast pace, and all of these things were at the root of every single course…woven into the curriculum throughout all of the 18 months we spent at ESMT.
