Zoltán Antal-Mokos joined ESMT Berlin in 2005. He has been professor of strategy since 2011 and served as dean of degree programs from the same year until 2020, following his previous roles as associate dean since 2009 and director of the Executive MBA Program since 2007. Zoltán was named the MCC Professor in Strategy and appointed Director, Strategic Partnerships from May 2023. Prior to joining ESMT, Zoltán was the McKinsey & Co. Chair in Strategy at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration, Hungary, where he also held leadership positions as associate dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and director of the university’s graduate school of management.
He graduated as an economist in Budapest, where he also received his first doctorate degree. With a grant from the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program, Zoltán then completed his second PhD at London Business School, University of London. He was member of the Committee of Management and Organization Science of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences between 1996 until 2011. Zoltán’s research focuses on the interrelationships between ownership, firm level strategy, competitiveness, as well as mergers and acquisitions, and organizational politics.
Zoltán has vast experience in teaching MBA and executive courses. He has led the design and launch of the ESMT Executive MBA and Master in Management programs and created and delivered courses on corporate and competitive strategy, and mergers and acquisitions at MBA and EMBA level. He has been teaching on general management executive education programs as well as more strategy-focused executive seminars, and contributed to corporate programs for a variety of international clients. In his consulting practice, Zoltán has advised top management and run strategy-making workshops for international corporations in the oil and gas sector, FMCG, telecom, and a flag carrier airline.
He enjoys travel, immersing in nature, meeting with people of different cultures, and having discussions on strategic challenges of business leaders.
