ESMT Berlin and the BMW Group are partnering to offer ten full-tuition scholarships for the Global Online MBA (September 2024 intake). Applications are welcomed from ambitious young mathematics or technology professionals from Germany, India, Portugal, Romania, and South Africa.
The triple accredited ESMT Global Online MBA has decision-making, analytics, and innovation at its core, and offers a complete remote learning experience. Furthermore, the modular format allows students to study at times that fit their schedules and at their own pace. The program has been designed to be completed in as little as 24 months, or take up to five years.

The fellowship
In addition to receiving a full-tuition scholarship, all BMW Group Change Maker fellows will have the opportunity to meet BMW Group experts and build career-enhancing networks.
Fellowship applications are part of the application for the Global Online MBA. Applicants must answer the following question: the BMW Group seeks to actively shape the future of mobility. What aspect of a digital future fascinates you most and why?
Applications will be evaluated in two rounds with priority given to applications received in round 1:
Round 1 application deadline: Monday, July 1, 2024
Round 2 application deadline: Thursday, August 15, 2024
Enrollment and fellowship decisions will be communicated within three weeks of the above deadlines. The Global Online MBA program starts on September 30, 2024.

Eligibility
Who can apply for the BMW Group Change Maker Fellowship?
To apply for the BMW Group Change Maker Fellowship, you need to meet all the following conditions:

Do I need to be in Germany to apply?
No! The fellowship is focused on those who are citizens or permanent residents of Germany, India, Portugal, Romania, or South Africa; those holding refugee status in Germany are also invited to apply.
The ESMT Global Online MBA can be completed from anywhere in the world.
How can I prove English proficiency?
If you are able to share results from a test of English such as TOEFL or IELTS, then we would like to see them. Alternatively, we will evaluate your skills during the admission interview and formal proof may not be requested.
Admissions
What does the fellowship cover?
The BMW Group Change Maker Fellowship covers the full Global Online MBA program tuition fee - €28,000. The tuition includes access to the learning platform and content, and required case study licenses.
The fellowship does not include travel costs associated with participation in the Berlin Experience Week.
All costs covering the Global Exeprience Week are separate and not included.
Additional program add-ons such as the 1:1 career coaching package are not included.
There are 10 fellowships available.
How do I apply for the fellowship and the program?
You will apply to the BMW Group Change Maker Fellowship and the Global Online MBA program at the same time by using the online application form. There is a €50 application fee.
To start your application, you will need the following:
- An up to date CV showing at least three years of postgraduate professional experience
- Transcripts of your undergraduate degree detailing courses and grades
- Proof of English (TOEFL, IELTS test results, for example)

Answers to the following questions:
1. The BMW Group seeks to actively shape the future of mobility; what aspect of a digital future fascinates you the most and why? (max 250 words)
2. We often learn by failing. Tell us about a setback in your life (personal, academic, or professional), outline how you responded to it, and describe what you gained from the experience [Text; max 250 words]
3. Tell us about the worst job you ever had [Text; max 150 words] - Introduce yourself to us and your future classmates; tell us what you will bring to the class (video; max 2 mins)
- Optional: Is there any other information, not covered in the application, that you would like us to know about you? [Text; max 250 words]
- At least one professional recommendation is required by the time you submit your application. A second recommendation is required before the application process is finalized.
- A valid admission test score from the ESMT Business Admission test (BAT), GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, or GMAC Executive Assessment (A test waiver may be granted if you hold a PhD, or studied a STEM subject at bachelor’s or master’s level)
- Proof of English (TOEFL, IELTS test results, for example)
Do I need to take an admission test?
Scores from either the GMAT, GRE or ESMT’s Business Admissions Test (BAT) are mandatory for the Global Online MBA. However a test waiver may be granted if you hold a PhD, or studied a STEM subject at bachelor’s or master’s level.
The Business Admissions Test is taken online. The test takes 2 hours and is comprised of four parts (each 30 minutes long):
- Communication Analysis (CA)
- Critical Thinking (CT)
- Data Interpretation (DI)Data Analysis (DA)
The test costs US$100 and must be paid before it can be taken. To take the ESMT admission test, please contact the admissions team.
How much does it cost to apply?
To apply for the Global Online MBA program, there is a €50 application fee. There is no additional fee to apply for the BMW Group Change Maker Fellowship.
How much is tuition in the Global Online MBA?
Recipients of a BMW Change Maker Fellowship will not pay any tuition for the standard Global Online MBA program. If, however, you decide to take the Berlin or Global Experience Week electives and/or buy a package of 1:1 sessions with a career coach, additional fees will apply.
If you do not receive the fellowship, the full program fee is €28,000. This may be reduced depending on the payment plan you choose or other scholarships that you applied for. Full details are found in the tuition and fees page.

What happens if I don’t receive a BMW Group Change Maker Fellowship?
If you do not receive a BMW Group Change Maker Fellowship but have been accepted into the Global Online MBA program, you can still chose to study for your MBA online with ESMT. You will need to pay the full program fee of €28,000 which may be reduced depending on the payment plan you choose and other scholarships you have applied for.
