ESMT Berlin holds benefit concert for Ukraine

4 members of the Klenke Quartett posing together
On March 31, 2022, the Klenke Quartett, a renowned string quartet that recently received the Saxon Mozart Prize, will give a charity concert at ESMT Berlin to support humanitarian aid projects in Ukraine.

The four musicians of the Klenke Quartett Beate Hartmann, Ruth Kaltenhäuser, Annegret Klenke, and Yvonne Uhlemann will perform the concert in the auditorium maximum, once the ballroom of the GDR state council building, now the campus of ESMT. Under Günter Brendel's frieze “Life in the GDR,” the four musicians, who themselves grew up in East Germany, will perform Mozart’s famous Clarinet Quintet, together with Nicola Jürgensen, Haydn’s String Quartet op. 77/1 in G major, and works by Erwin Schulhoff.

The program:

  • Five Pieces for String Quartet (1923)
  • Joseph Haydn (1732-1809)
  • String quartet in G major op. 77/1
  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791)
  • Clarinet quintet in A major KV 581

After the concert, the audience is invited to a reception and a meeting with the musicians.
