ESMT Berlin expands activities in Central and Eastern Europe

ESMT Berlin is increasing its educational outreach in Central and Eastern Europe with the goal of acting as a vital bridge between the different regions of Europe, a strategy inherent to ESMT since its inception in 2002. As a part of this strategy, ESMT will enable even more students from Central and Eastern Europe to study at ESMT by collaborating with the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC).

ESMT looks forward to more than 20 qualified applicants from Central and Eastern Europe annually, to be distributed among the full-time MBA, part-time MBA, Global Online MBA, and master programs at ESMT. The scholarship program is planned for at least the next 10 years. All applicants must meet the ESMT admission requirements of the degree program to be considered. Additionally, a representative of MCC will join the ESMT International Advisory Council, which was initiated by the ESMT Foundation Board of Trustees to provide external perspective, assessment, and support to the school.

The cooperation is an important element of the international business school’s strategic plan to increase its commitment to education in Central and Eastern Europe and to encourage even more students from this region to study at ESMT, thereby strengthening their European perspective. Existing partnerships in the region include, among others, a cooperation with the Post-Conflict Research Center (PCRC), a women-led, multi-ethnic organization based in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, dedicated to promoting a culture of peace and reconciliation in the Western Balkans. With the international school Matena, based in Armenia, ESMT contributes to professional development there with the executive education program “Data-Driven-Strategy.” Together with the BMW Group, ESMT also just launched the BMW Group Change Maker Fellowships in Hungary to offer ten full-tuition scholarships in 2023 for the ESMT Global Online MBA. In addition, ESMT is currently in discussions with other leading institutions in Central and Eastern Europe with the goal of deepening ties and collaboration.

“ESMT and the city of Berlin are ideally positioned to build a stronger bridge between Western and Central and Eastern Europe. Following the strategy we have had since our inception and working together with a variety of institutions from many countries, we can strengthen European values by providing educational opportunities and international perspectives for accomplished individuals from the regions of focus,” says Jörg Rocholl, president of ESMT.

MCC is a leading talent promotion institution in the region. It has been operating since 1996 and offers talent promotion programs from primary school to adult age. Its talent development program is designed to complement public and university education by providing high-quality training courses with an interdisciplinary approach.
