Established in partnership with the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council (QRDI), it has a clear mission: to help scientific ideas move from the lab into real-world application.
Building on ESMT Berlin’s long-standing presence in Doha, DEEP Qatar connects researchers, founders, and investors from Europe and Qatar. Through cross-border and interdisciplinary collaboration, it focuses on the practical steps needed to turn excellent science into scalable, sustainable companies.
DEEP Academy
DEEP Academy is a selective education program for researchers and scientists from Qatar and the wider GCC region. It focuses on one of the most challenging steps in research commercialization: moving from scientific discovery to startup creation.
Through immersive, hands-on learning, participants develop entrepreneurial skills, strengthen decision-making, and build confidence. The program helps researchers test whether their ideas can succeed beyond academia and understand what would need to change to make that possible.
DEEP Pioneers
DEEP Pioneers is a venture-building platform that identifies promising technologies, particularly from Qatari research and technology organizations, and matches them with experienced entrepreneurs.
The program forms teams that take responsibility for building companies around these technologies. Implemented in partnership with the QRDI Council, DEEP Pioneers supports Qatar’s goals in technology transfer, private-sector R&D, and long-term innovation ecosystem development.
Creative Destruction Lab (CDL-Doha)
CDL-Doha is the first Creative Destruction Lab site in the Gulf Cooperation Council and Asia. It is operated by DEEP Qatar in partnership with CDL-Berlin and CDL-Paris.
The program supports science-driven ventures in fields such as artificial intelligence, health, and agriculture and food. Founders work closely with international mentors and gain access to investor and corporate networks in both Doha and Berlin. The format is intentionally demanding, reflecting the belief that not every idea should become a company.
