Under the leadership of Frank Jürgen Weise, former chief executive officer of the Federal Employment Agency, and professor Constanze Janda, University of Speyer, the commission is tasked with developing recommendations for a comprehensive reorganization of the pension system by mid next year.
Rocholl’s appointment highlights his active role in shaping the national debate on sustainable pension reform. At the same time, the nomination reflects ESMT’s commitment to contributing academic insight to political decision-making processes. Most recently, together with Michael Eilfort, executive board member, Stiftung Marktwirtschaft, and Clemens Fuest, president, ifo Institute for Economic Research, he publicly advocated for a fundamental reassessment of the current pension package and called for reforms based on demographic realities, fiscal responsibility, and intergenerational fairness.
The commission comprises 13 members, including two co-chairs, three vice chairs from the Bundestag, and eight independent academic experts.
