Rebecca Schaumberg
Biography
Rebecca (Becky) Schaumberg is an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior at ESMT Berlin. She studies the psychological and emotional underpinnings of employee behavior in organizations, with a particular focus on self-conscious emotions such as guilt and shame. Her research explores how these emotions shape motivation, social dynamics, and organizational culture—both positively and negatively.
Her work has been published in leading journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Psychological Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and the Journal of Applied Psychology. She holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Stanford University and a B.A. in Psychology from Carleton College.
Before joining ESMT, she was a faculty member at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and NYU Stern, where she taught award-winning courses related to leadership, decision-making, negotiations, and conflict management.
