Matthias Qian

In September 2023, Matthias Qian joined ESMT Berlin as an Assistant Professor of Strategy & Entrepreneurship. Prior to this, he spent a decade at the University of Oxford, where he initially pursued his graduate studies and later held his first faculty positions.

Matthias's research focuses on the commercialization of new technologies within entrepreneurial ventures. He employs machine learning techniques in conjunction with big data to explore strategic questions related to technology commercialization.

Matthias's research findings have been published in prestigious journals and magazines, including the Harvard Business Review, Journal of Professions and Organizations, and Health and Place. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as the Director of the Oxford COVID-19 Impact Monitor.
