Jamie Song
Biography
Jamie Song joined ESMT Berlin as an Assistant Professor of Strategy in August 2021. She received her PhD in Management from INSEAD and her Bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College.
Jamie’s research explores the social and cultural dynamics that shape the evaluation of novel ideas, with a focus on entrepreneurial innovations. Her research specifically focuses on three interrelated streams: 1) how social and symbolic processes influences audience evaluation, 2) how audience feedback guides entrepreneurial action, and 3) how biases and inequalities affect these evaluative processes. Methodologically, she draws on large-scale textual and network data from digital platforms, using social network analysis and machine learning methods to capture how novel ideas are communicated, interpreted, and evaluated.
Prior to joining academia, Jamie worked in the tech space and continues to be interested in technology entrepreneurship and digital platforms.
