The Young Physician Leaders (YPL) program is designed to develop the leadership talent of an international group of young, promising healthcare and public health professionals. Launched in 2011 by the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) and implemented in collaboration with the World Health Summit Academic Alliance (WHS AA), that hosts the YPLs in the annual World Health Summit in Berlin, it now brings together a network of more than 280 alumni.
Since 2015, ESMT Berlin has provided a leadership development workshop to each annual YPL cohort. The workshop:
Explores themes concerning the sources of leadership and the different styles a leader needs.
Identifies the complex processes of decision making and organizational change.
Immediately following the first two days of leadership workshop, YPL participants:
Prepare and present a session on the concerns of young physicians at the World Health Summit.
Join the worldwide network of Young Physician Leaders alumni and continue to interact with their peers.
The program is run as a collaboration between IAP, the World Health Summit and ESMT Berlin.
