ESMT Berlin welcomes new faculty member

ESMT Berlin Oliver Binz
On September 1, 2023, Oliver Binz joined ESMT Berlin as an assistant professor, strengthening the business school’s faculty in accounting.

Oliver’s interests lie at the intersection of equity valuation, macroeconomics, and economic history. Some of his recent projects explore how macroeconomic developments affect managers’ and consumers’ decision-making, and the resulting consequences for corporate investment efficiency and profits. His research has been published in leading academic journals including the Journal of Accounting Research, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, and The Accounting Review.

He received his PhD in business administration from Duke University. Prior to his ESMT appointment, Oliver was an assistant professor of accounting and control at INSEAD and a visiting scholar at University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. Before becoming an academic, he worked for Deutsche Bank’s Asset and Wealth Management division.

Oliver teaches financial accounting in ESMT’s master’s programs. With Oliver joining ESMT, the international business school has now 46 faculty members from 19 countries.
