Jonathan Federle
Biography
Jonathan is an Assistant Professor at ESMT Berlin and the Kiel Institute. Prior to his current appointment, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Kiel Institute, and he has been a visiting scholar at Harvard Business School and Boston University. He received his Ph.D. from LMU Munich.
Jonathan's interests lie at the intersection of geoeconomics, macroeconomics, and international finance. His research examines the economic consequences of war: how conflicts affect output and inflation in belligerent and nearby economies, how stock and sovereign bond markets price geopolitical risk, and how economic strength shapes military success. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including the American Economic Review, and has been presented at venues such as the Harvard Business School, the NBER Summer Institute, and the European Central Bank.
