The “knowledge–action gap” is a central challenge in addressing today’s environmental crises. In this talk, Theresa Reisch explores how the act of “translation” can help bridge the gap between awareness and meaningful action—particularly within organizations. She discusses how translating environmental challenges into the language of finance, costs, and revenue can make the case for sustainable transformation more compelling in the private sector. Reisch also highlights how recognizing ancillary sources of value can further incentivize corporate action and outlines how translation can be applied in broader contexts to catalyze systemic change.
Theresa Reisch is a management consultant at Bain & Company.
