Studying at EMST means joining a community of students, alumni, staff, and faculty. Our close-knit cohorts are small enough that you will soon know all your classmates by name – and outside the classroom, we offer many opportunities to expand that closeness to the wider school network.
Expanding your campus network
Ways to meet more people at ESMT include student-run clubs and organizations that give you a chance to strengthen your peer network; dedicated networking events on campus where you can meet influential people from outside ESMT; and extracurricular activities where you can take a break from class while cementing your bonds with fellow students, alumni, and even faculty.

Extracurricular activities give you the chance to connect...beyond the classroom and build meaningful relationships.
Being on a campus surrounded by outstanding people is an incredible opportunity, and extracurricular activities give you the chance to connect with them beyond the classroom and build meaningful relationships.
Beyond networking, these experiences also allow you to put into practice what you are learning, gain real-world perspectives, and even explore Berlin's startup ecosystem by taking advantage of ESMT's amazing location.

ESMT Connected Choir
The Connected Choir is a group of ESMT staff, students, alumni, friends, and family, who unite with a simple aim: to build community by singing together after classes/work in a warm and welcoming environment.
They also hold concertinos for small audiences twice a year, perform at ESMT's summer and end-of-year parties, and take the stage for special community events like the yearly campus Nachbarschaftsfest (neighborhood festival).
No musical experience is needed to join this ideal, supportive space, built for those who are new to Berlin or Germany, those who want to meet people and unwind, and those who want to boost their confidence while breaking away from typical choir clichés.
You don't even need to be an officially enrolled student: prospective students are welcome to attend the Open Rehearsals too (learn more below).
Joining the Connected Choir & watching their performances
Open Rehearsals are held at the beginning of each new Choir semester (usually to coincide with semester start in January/February and September), and many performances are open to the public.
You can email the Choir leaders for more info about Open Rehearsal dates and upcoming performances.

ESMT Olympics
The ESMT Olympics are a new yearly tradition at ESMT – and quickly becoming something people across the school look forward to.
On an evening in early summer, students from every degree program join alumni, staff, and faculty to complete in a series of fun sporting challenges, from egg and spoon races, to yoga, tug-of-war, football and even chess.
You can join as a participant or as a cheerleader: either way it is an incredibly fun way to both cement the bonds within your cohort and to meet people from outside your class.
Getting involved: the ESMT Olympics are open to all current students and school alumni. Participant sign-up links and details are shared in the weeks before the event.
Bergfest
Bergfest is ESMT's monthly extracurricular event run by students for students.
Organized by the Student Community Coordinators (typically Full-time MBA students) in collaboration with Student Services, Bergfest is an informal gathering that brings together students from across the school, and helps students develop relationships that will continue well beyond graduation.
Every Bergfest offers something different: barbecues in the ESMT garden, karaoke nights, and adventures around Berlin, like kayaking along the Spree. Whatever the activity, Bergfest offers a relaxed, welcoming space to make connections, share experiences, and feel part of the ESMT student community.
Getting involved: when you join ESMT, the Student Services office will let you know about upcoming Bergfests. These are open to all students – there have even been online editions for remote students, and those that coincide with campus residencies.
