At ESMT Berlin, students and graduates apply management expertise to social and environmental challenges. Through real-world projects, fellowships, partnerships, and student-led initiatives, they contribute to meaningful work while developing the skills to lead responsibly.
Learn through real-world projects
Social impact is part of the ESMT learning experience. Students work with organizations that are addressing complex challenges and apply their knowledge to defined business and management needs.
Social Impact Project
The Social Impact Project gives students in ESMT master’s and MBA programs the opportunity to work with organizations pursuing social impact. Over five weeks, student teams support nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, and mission-driven businesses on a defined challenge.
Responsible Leaders Fellowship
The Responsible Leaders Fellowship enables recent ESMT graduates to contribute pro bono management expertise to organizations addressing social challenges. Over six months, Fellows gain hands-on experience while supporting work with local and global relevance.
Developing talent through partnership
Industry Immersion Program
Since 2017, the Industry Immersion Program has supported young African graduates in mathematics as they prepare for their careers. Developed with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences, the Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry Johannesburg, and African and German companies, the six-month tuition-free program combines academic modules taught pro-bono by ESMT faculty with internships.
Partner with ESMT
Organizations working on social or environmental challenges can collaborate with ESMT through the Social Impact Project or the Responsible Leaders Fellowship. Student teams and Fellows bring focused management support to defined projects and organizational needs.
