ESMT Berlin joins DAAD in celebrating one million Erasmus Students in Germany
Beickler spent an Erasmus+ semester at Bocconi University in Milan in autumn 2025, selecting highly technical courses outside his area of expertise. His determination to succeed in unfamiliar academic territory makes him a fitting representative of Erasmus+, which aims to improve skills and employability, foster inclusion and active citizenship, and strengthen European cooperation through learning, mobility, and cultural exchange.
“Christoph’s experience at Bocconi was a genuine personal achievement,” says Anna Frankowska, head of international office at ESMT. “He pushed himself into a knowledge area that was not his comfort zone and saw it through. That kind of intellectual courage is exactly what we hope our students take from an international exchange.”
The nomination comes as ESMT marks five years since signing its first Erasmus+ agreement with Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. The school’s network has since grown to 15 partner institutions across 11 European countries, including Bocconi, HEC Paris, IE University, Nova School of Business and Economics, and Stockholm School of Economics. More than 100 ESMT students have gone abroad with Erasmus+ since the academic year 2021/22.
Beyond academic exchanges, ESMT students have completed Erasmus+-funded traineeships at leading international employers including Allianz, Amazon, EY-Parthenon, Ferrero, Heineken, Publicis, Tesla, Uber, and Vattenfall.
Erasmus+ continues to affirm its place as a key program for an open, connected, and future-ready Europe. The DAAD #OneInOneMillion campaign launches on social media on June 8, 2026, under the hashtag #OneInOneMillion.
