On this page you can find more details about the curriculum and program structure for the Master in Analytics and Artificial Intelligence

The Master in Analytics and Artificial Intelligence program begins in September each year and lasts for 24 months. The full two-year program is worth 120 ECTS credits.

The program is designed to give you a business education while equipping you with sought-after skills relating to analytics and AI tools, preparing you for a career as a digital innovation consultants, analytics leader or technological change agents

The structure in two parts includes:

  • Foundation courses covering the most important aspects of Data Analysis, Data Management, Machine Learning, Coding, and their application in business decision-making
  • Advanced electives delving deeper into industries and applications e.g. Value Chain Analytics, AI and Society, Global Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Term 3
April - September

Internship

Complete an internship of up to six months with a company that aligns with your careers goals, in coordination with ESMT. German students are encouraged to complete their internship abroad.

ESMT currently works with a growing number of companies to offer internships.

Please note that while ESMT has agreements with internship providers to offer internships, participants are still required to apply and pass the target company’s selection procedures. Participants may also source their own internship opportunities.

Besides Germany, students are gaining international experience by interning in Japan, Turkey, Switzerland, France, South Korea and Kenya.

Analytics Student Consulting Project

Get experience working with a corporate partner as part of a student consulting team and apply your new skills and insights into a real-world business environment. 

Introduction to Research Method + Research Strategies Week

This week provides a foundation in research methodology and strategies. You will be introduced to the principles of conducting effective research, exploring both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The importance of identifying a research problem, formulating research questions, and selecting appropriate methods will be emphasized. Key strategies, such as surveys, experiments, case studies, and ethnography, will be discussed, along with data collection techniques and ethical considerations. By the end of the week, you will understand the basics of designing research projects and selecting suitable strategies to investigate various topics.

Term 6
May - August

Master Thesis

While working on your Master thesis, you may seek the opportunity of a second internship and carry out your research with support from practitioners.

Alternatively, particularly those who intend to pursue an academic career, you may opt for working on a thesis topic in close coordination with a professor’s own research agenda.

Additional options include:

Finance Certificate

As part of your elective course choice, you can opt to complete five advanced courses in finance subjects with a focus on global investment strategies.

You will be issued an ESMT Finance Certificate in addition to your master's degree. 

Language training

Foreign language training is fully integrated into the curriculum of the Master in Global Management program. It is available to all students and has a value of 8 ECTS.

ESMT collaborates with the GLS language school that has been offering language courses in Berlin since 1983.

During the two-year period of study, there is an opportunity to choose one of these four languages: 

  • German
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Chinese

The language groups consist of a maximum of 12 participants and a minimum of 4 participants, for a Chinese course a minimum of 2 participants. Classes take place at the GLS campus in Kastanienallee 82 and run once a week from October to December and January to March.
