Biodiversity loss is increasingly recognized as a material financial risk, yet its integration into fixed income investing remains at an early stage. This white paper examines how biodiversity considerations can be translated into practical investment strategies for fixed income portfolios. It reviews the financial relevance of biodiversity, current measurement approaches, and the limitations of existing biodiversity assessment tools. Drawing on an analysis of current market practices, biodiversity-themed investment products, and the evolving regulatory landscape, the paper identifies practical approaches for integrating biodiversity into portfolio construction through issuer selection, screening, and engagement. It concludes with a set of recommendations for developing biodiversity-themed fixed income strategies that balance investment objectives with emerging sustainability expectations.
