Women and people far from headquarters often need help to get recognition for their ideas. One way to help is to put all ideas on equal footing through a “blinding” strategy. This research studies biases, blinding, and how managers evaluate their employees’ ideas. Surprisingly, the researchers could not detect any major biases working against women and call on companies to test alternative strategies beyond blinding to improve idea evaluation. The findings come from new research conducted by Linus Dahlander from ESMT Berlin, alongside Arne Thomas, Amsterdam Business School, Martin Wallin, Chalmers University of Technology, and Rebecka Ångström, Stockholm School of Economics.
